Victoria’s Labor Premier Jacinta Allan, is saying and doing things that are not always in agreement with my own values, or with my own policy outlook. The panicking in my opinion way she responded to the law and order campaign, of the Libs and the Murdoch media, her constant non-progressive referral to the issue of social cohesion almost exclusively in terms of cultural diversity, are only two of my indicative disagreements with her.
Having said this, though, I feel that the so-called Labor party heavyweights who are discussing the possibility of replacing her with another Premier, if the federal election result in Victoria is not good, these heavyweights are looking for a scapegoat and not for a real solution.
When you are in power since 2014, the electorate becomes restless, especially nowadays…
When your party, instead of being a grassroots, mass, democratic party, with real input from its members, is run from the top down and you only use your membership to door knock before an election…
When you no longer debate and discuss, in a participatory and inclusive way, all the big issues of the day, then, what do you expect?
The way “traditional” political parties in Australia are run nowadays, their non-representative membership and leadership, the way these parties formulate and implement policies, these are the big issues that alienate active people and make them walk away from Labor, for example.
A possible removable of Jacinta Allan in the future might save, might save the seats of one or two Labor MPs, but it won’t save the Labor party in Victoria, if the party does not change the way it runs itself, not only in Victoria, but in the entire country…
