Kasselakis Files Criminal Complaint Against Polakis Over Attacks

Stefanos Kasselakis, leader of the Movement for Democracy, has announced via social media that he has filed a criminal complaint against Pavlos Polakis. The complaint follows a series of attacks Kasselakis has faced, and he added that a compensation claim will follow the legal action. He emphasized that the compensation, once awarded, will be used to support initiatives focused on inclusion.

In his statement, Kasselakis reflected on the events that led to this decision, recounting his position last July when he was the only political leader to oppose a controversial agreement concerning Attica Bank. He recalled how, on the same day the agreement passed through Parliament unnoticed, a division within SYRIZA resulted in personal attacks, particularly towards a female special advisor. Kasselakis criticized the party’s internal turmoil, stating, “half of SYRIZA wanted to expel the other half,” and mentioned how the two factions reached an agreement with a harsh message: “He should not have a second chance in the country” and “VANISH from the country.”

He concluded, “Tolerance ends here,” announcing that he had filed the criminal complaint and would seek compensation for his ordeal, which will be allocated to support causes of inclusion.

In response, Pavlos Polakis commented directly on Kasselakis’s post, accusing him of using the lawsuit to regain attention. “Ah, poor thing!!! Your Movement for Democracy isn’t going well, and you’re looking for a way to get back into the spotlight!” Polakis continued, “Welcome to the courtroom, along with my other accusers—Adonis, Stournaras, Loverdos, etc. You’ve closed the chapter on your fraudulence and are fading off the map.”

This legal dispute adds another layer to the already tense political atmosphere, with both figures making strong accusations that reflect the deep divisions within Greek politics.
